This 'DC' title is trying to pass on the mantle of Shazam to a NEW successor, since he was killed in the 'Day of Vengeance' storyline... I do give them [dc] some praise for their efforts - but - guys... c'mon... I'm sure you could've found another storyline [without tarnishing the Captain Marvel character] but, I guess they [DC execs] ALL voted on THIS one... and I agree that Alex Ross should be an ongoing artist to Captain Marvel, since he is a REAL fan of his... I do hope they [hollywood] end up making a film of Marvel soon and completely stay away from this current storyline... I feel that the DC execs want only ONE Superman and not TWO [Cap] so they want to CHANGE Cap entirely... and since DC can't use Cap's name on any of their covers - why not give him the name Shazam, after all...
It's too bad Fawcett Comics couldn't come back from the dead and save Captain Marvel... cuz' he needs to be saved! DC is making a BIG mistake...
