Posted by Sharika on 2/28/2002, 10:54 pm Mac and Kevin are having lunch at the Outback. The two friends have been catching up on what's been going on in each other's lives. Both have been very busy lately. Mac, sorry it's taken so long to reschedule lunch. It's ok Kevin. How have you been? Fine, work has kept me busy lately. How about you? Everything is ok between you and Dara? Everything is great between me and Dara. She's the best. Mac says smiling. The girls are spending the weekend with me. Life couldn't be better. Now if I can get Felicia out of my life, life would definitely be good. But I know that will be impossible because of the girls. This is where I ask for your psychiatrist brain here. Ask away. When I visit the girls, I do it alone. Dara isn't with me. Why? She wants me to have my time with the girls alone. I asked Dara to have dinner with me and the girls but she feels like she's intruding and she doesn't want to do that. And after Felicia's little stunt yesterday, I don't blame her for feeling that way. Kevin, I love Dara very much and I want to include her completely in my life and that includes the girls. I don't want her to feel like she's intruding. How can I do that? Mac, all you can do is reassure Dara that she's not an intrusion in your relationship with the girls. Your relationship is still new, so you don't want to force the issue. You can't make the girls like Dara or vice versa. I think Maxie made the first step by inviting Dara to her school for career day. It might be her way of accepting the divorce and the fact that you have someone else in your life now. Kevin, I've been straight with the girls. I've told them that their mother and I won't be getting back together. Felicia is the main one who better get used to that fact.
Uh oh, what did Felicia do this time? Mac tells Kevin about Maxie inviting Dara to speak at her school for career day. She storms into Dara's office, throwing a hissy fit. Then she comes to my office and does the same thing. Dara warned me ahead of time, so I was expecting her. Wow, Felicia was really upset huh? Yep. She asked me why Maxie would ask Dara to speak at her school instead of her. Maxie told me why but I didn't feel it was my place to tell Felicia, so I told her to ask Maxie herself. And let me say that asking Dara to speak was Maxie's idea. I had nothing to do with it. In fact, she asked me if my "girlfriend" would be interested in speaking at her school. Girlfriend? Trust me mate, I was blown away. That was the first time I heard anyone refer to Dara as my "girlfriend". Since I don't speak for Dara, I called her on my cell phone and gave the phone to Maxie. So she asked Dara herself? Kevin asks. Yes, she did. Kevin, when she was telling about me career day, I thought she was going to ask me if I could get one of my female officers to speak, which I would have done of course. I never thought she would want to ask Dara. That took me by surprise. Mac, did you ask Maxie why she wanted to ask Dara to speak at her school? No. I guess I was so shock, it didn't occur to me to ask. The reason isn't important to me.
Mac, anything new on the custody suit? Alexis is going to try to schedule a meeting with Felicia's lawyer to try to come up with a compromise. What I'm afraid of is that if I decide not to go through with the custody suit, Felicia would try to use my relationship with Dara to restrict my visitation. Right now, I can see the girls anytime I want. I don't want that to change. Felicia will definitely force the issue. I will not be put in the position to choose between the girls and the woman I love. My friend, it looks like you made up your mind. I sure have, I know what's important to me. Mac and Kevin continue their lunch and conversation.
