Posted by HiwasseeVol Zac Bowman was the story tonight for Central as he threw a complete 5 inning game and struck out 12 and gave up 4 hits. Zac also hit a 3 run homerun in the 1st inning. Clinton is finished on the year. Knoxville Halls (3-0) 2 - Karns (2-1) 1 It was a classic from the two teams that tied for the 3-AAA District regular season championship. Shane Ownby pitch a great game for Karns, throwing for 7 innings and scattered 6 hits while walking two on only 80 pitches. Halls left 6 baserunners stranded. The big story at the plate for Halls was that leadoff hitter, Matt Lane was 4 for 4 with 2 singles, a leadoff HR and a double. He had 4 of Halls six hits. Catcher Larry Lowery for Halls had the winning RBI single in the top of the six inning and Chittium also singled for Halls. Halls went with their "Ace" lefty Jeffery Lockwood who threw a complete 7 inning game and gave up 3 hits, but walked 5 on 114 pitches. Karns hurt their effort by stranding 9 baserunners. Wes Lee had a 2B, Alex Henry a single and Clint Fox a single for Karns. There was some outstanding defensive play from both centerfielders, Alex Henry for Karns and Jason Grove for Halls. Grove caught a ball in the wall from Cale Iorg that would scored a run for the Beavers. Alex Henry had an even better snag in center for the Beavers that he laid out and somehow came up with the catch. Karns had the winning runs on after Halls intentionally walked Cale Iorg in the bottom of the 7th with two outs, but John Barrett who bats cleanup for Karns left the runs stranded Karns now will meet Knoxville Central at 5:30 PM Friday as the games return to Karns field with the winner earning a spot in the Regional. The winner will then play Knoxville Halls who earned a spot tonight.
