Posted by CP on 11/12/2001, 9:20 pm The "costly card readers" you (Adam) refer to for the Sony camcorders when used with non-Sony computers...are those for the Sony Memory Sticks? And roughly how much are you talking for a card reader? Anyway, those card readers only come into play for still pics and the low resolution video capability I mentioned above, right? As far as regular video (non-Stick recorded) goes, for dubbing onto DVD just about any new camcorder can be connected to just about any computer (that has DVDR), if the proper cables are used, right? I have a Mac now and will be getting a new computer next year (probably another Mac). I look forward to getting something with recording capability for both DVDs and CDRs. If you (Adam) or anyone else has any particular advice on which way I should go (computer and vidcam), I'm all ears. I think DVD is going to be the standard in the smoking fetish video world within the next 18 months. People were giving VSI flack about a year ago for offering videos on DVD (only?). I see you guys at IRL are not only offering a DVD option, but at a lower price than tape! With all the advantages DVD offers over videotape (cue up scenes in seconds, picture quality, sound quality), I'm sure within just a couple years we will look back at VHS like we look back at 8-track music tapes now.
First of all, I should inform all that the video capability of the Sony Cybershot digital cameras is very low; mainly meant for email purposes. Something like 160 x 320dpi. So much for that option.
