Last night I caught "Bride With White Hair II" which is a kung-fu sword & sorcery story set in ancient China. One character was a female archer
who went about in men's clothes and acted tough.
And almost every time you saw her, she was smoking a cigarette.
"This girl archer: how can we make her look tough?
Dress her in men's clothes? Yeah, that'll work. I know: let her smoke cigarettes! Wait a minute! They didn't have cigarettes in those days! Oh, it's just a movie, no one will care..."
