Posted by Rich on 6/25/2001, 2:32 am Girls in Japan - like in most of Asia - are really attractive, especially in Osaka, which I liked the best of the places I went. I saw a lot of Japanese girls with dyed blonde hair smoking around the streets in Osaka. I also went to a McDonalds in Osaka and it was the first time I'd seen anyone being allowed to smoke in a McDonalds for close to 15 years. If you sit near the smoking section in a McDonalds you'll see lots of girls smoking, so I saw a few there and they were OK. Also in Osaka, I went to a coffee shop and sat at a small square table, which is in a row of about eight tables the same size. There was (another) plump girl on my left who was doing open-mouth exhales, there were two women on my right smoking, and then another two girls came into the shop and took up the table next to us. They asked for an ashtray after ordering their coffee and then both lit up all white 100s. I think smoking is probably more prevalent in Japan than here in Hong Kong, and more socially acceptable. The only place in Hong Kong that is like Japan is probably the most westernised areas - Lan Kwai Fong, Tsim Sha Tsui and Stanley.
Hey - I've been back from Japan for about 10 days. Hard to gather my thoughts to put something here. I'd have to say I'm a bit disappointed in how many sightings I saw in Japan, but that's mainly because I wasn't in good situations. There were quite a few smokers at Tokyo Disney who gather around designated outside smoking areas. I saw three girls in their 20s smoking in one area, one of them was really good - plump and took very long hits. The best sighting was at Fukuoka airport, I think, where there was a designated smoking area and this other plump girl took a cigarette out of a pack and then held it concealed in her fist for a few minutes. Then her friend arrived back and sat with her back to the plump girl on another seat. The plump girl then tried to light up with a book of matches, but couldn't get a match to work. She then seemed to ask her friend for advice, and the friend took the book of matches and broke one off and gave the plump girl a light. After that, they both sort of giggled and then the plump girl took a few hard hits - she was really cute too.
