The pistol is very easy to disassemble. At the top and inside the trigger ring there is a tap that needs to be pulled down to unlock the slide. Remove the mag. Pull the slide to the rear and at the utmost rear position, pull the rear of the slide up and while holding the slide up move it forward to clear the end of the barrel. To reinstall reverse these procedures. However due to the close tollerances between the slide and the reciever, it will take some trial and error in ingaging the slide tracks. At this point, don't give up...you have not distroyed your fathers pistol....they will go back together.
