When you say it "blew up", what do you mean. Did the barrel bannana peel? Was it a small rupture. Where was the rupture if so? It may be possible that it was a squib load that caused the failure. This would be an issue with either the powder itself, or the cap. In this case, the projectile does not leave the barrel (maybe it was a light load). Thus, the next round fired would cause the barrel to breach. This would not be the fault of SIG, but the load. It could have been that your father was distracted for a minute and put in a light load by accident.
