Here is the book answer. Altering a bat in anyway other than hitting regulation softballs is cheating.
Try sending an altered bat back to the dealer and see what happens...they will send it back in two pieces and tell you that you they can't refund altered bats.
Do I think rolling a bat is illegal? No...but the dealer might when you return it because of a crack.
