Hello everyone, this is your ringside reporter, Chase Alexander giving you all the news from the squared circle both inside and out. Today I've got a very special scoop for you, the very first interview with the "Superbeast" Robert Royale since his contract was sold to Anarchy Wrestling last week. In what turned out to be a 2 hour phone conversation, I think you'll find the Superbeast's comments on recent events very straight forward and clearly indicative of the growing animosity forming between these two rival companies. The first half of the interview, in which we primarily discuss Royale's former employers, Supreme Championship Wrestling, can be seen right here. For the 2nd half of this interview head over to the AWA message board and read Royale's very candid opinion of his new company.
C.A.: First of all let me again thank you for taking this time and discussing this recent turn of events. Let's start with last Saturday. Did you have any idea before your match with Kharn Alexander that it would be your last in SCW?
R.R.: Thank You Chase, for giving me this opportunity to give my side of the story. No, until the Commissioner made his anouncement at the end of my match, I was as much in the dark as everyone else. But to clarify, I don't believe I have wrestled my last match in SCW. From the first time I stepped foot in Gordon Arena, I made it very clear that I was going to say what I wanted and DO what I wanted, when ever or where ever I chose. Supreme's Strongest Animal can not be tamed, and will not be controlled. I've been suspended, I've even been fired but in the end I've always returned when I wanted.
C.A.:Yes, but isn't this time a little bit different? I mean your contract has been sold, effectively making you the property of the AWA. And from what I understand they have very good lawyers.
R.R.: Anarchy Wrestling controls my contract, they will never control me. My personal financial situation is such, that if I choose not to wrestle for the remainder of my contract I can do so. Wrestling has never been about the money.
C.A.: Earlier this year you took an extended leave of absence. Many have speculated that you were holding out for more money, or perhaps more backstage power?
R.R.: Any time you step away suddenly like I did, there will always be speculation into your motives. I have made it abundantly clear to anyone who cared to listen that my absence had absolutely nothing to do with wrestling and was purely based upon problems of a personal nature. I had come to a personal crossroads and took the steps I needed at the time. I did have conversations with management about returning during my hiatus, however I neither asked for nor received any special consolations. In fact I returned under the exact same contractual agreement I had when I left. As far as backstage power...That's just ludicrous. I have opinions on subjects and I'm not afraid to express them. If anyone actually listens is another story entirely. I don't make the decisions nor have I any desire to. When I want to sit down, people get up, that is the only backstage power I need.
C.A.: So you had no animosity towards the previous booker? I understand he had a lot of heat behind the curtain.
R.R.: Not nearly as much as he had when he stepped through it. No, I have never had any problems with any of the bookers. They have all treated me fairly. They have always let me do what I do best. Punch people right in the face.
C.A.: Just like you did to SCW Commissioner Bevins. You looked like you have been wanting to do that for quite some time.
R.R.: Yeah, Commissioner Beavis, or Butthead... Whatever, he's had that coming for a while. He may still have the SCW fans fooled into thinking he's on their side, but don't be fooled.
C.A.: All though the Commisssioner is a fairly new face to SCW, he has to this point always seemed to have the fans best interest at heart.
R.R.: Beavis isn't as new to SCW as he would want you to believe. You just might not have recognized him before.
C.A.: Are you saying he wore a disguise?
R.R.: Let me spell it out for you okay. Other than the Supreme Unified Champion, who manages to live by his own rules as long as he holds that belt, who are the 2 most powerful players in SCW?
C.A.: Eric Draven and Nic Noble?
R.R.: Right. Those 2 guys get away with everything short of murder every week right in front of Beavis' pointy nose and the fans inexplicably love them for it. So why does the esteemed Commissioner allow these 2 jerks to be above the law so to speak?
C.A.: Uhh....
R.R.: Who's the only Blackheart to ever be unmasked?
C.A.: Nic Noble.
R.R.: So who's the only man in that locker room with indisputable knowledge of the other 3 Blackheart's identities?
C.A.: 3? I thought there were like a hundred of them.
R.R.: 4. There have never been more.
C.A.: So are you insinuating that SCW's Commissioner was one of the original Blackhearts?
R.R.: It's a theory I've had ever since that paunchy blowhard first strutted through that door.
