Sometimes, I envy you guys who are living in the south! How would I be happy sailing all year round? I have to content myself with about 5 1/2 months of sailing and that's it. Nice pictures Michel. Looks like a nice area to cruise in. I see you have a Sandpiper. I've seen a couple around here on Lake Erie. Nice boat. You must have to contend with swift currents around there. You can console yourself with the fact that the southern sailors will be jealous of our weather here in the summer. It's too hot, muggy with many t'storms and even hurricanes down south in the summer. Besides, we get to really appreciate our shorter season and stay healthy shoveling snow in the winter!

Yes I love my river and, I live at walking distance from the marina. The Sandpiper is a nice little boat. She is perfect for the place I sail in. No winches needed and she tacks on a dime. Good upwind too. Really a plus with the current here. I know that no place is perfect. But there are things more pleasing than shoveling tons of snow!

It was 78 f here yesterday*, sailing was tricky though, because cold spurty gusts blew down the approx. 2000 ft mountians. Over nighted 3 times this past week though. Hey, we are not all that far from you, Owen Sound, Ontario was about a 13 hr drive up and that was pulling a trailer sailor. Trouble is, in the highlands the weather is highly variable, it can be short sleeves in the am and snow in the night on the odd day. Ol Bill

Michel is right Ol Bill, It does look beautiful. When is a good time to sail Watauga Lake. March, April, or May? Maybe I can make it there this year. If I do Ol Bill, I will be sailing "Captain Morgan", named after my daughter, not the spirit. Maybe I could follow you around the lake and swap a few stories and eat some very good BBQ. Do you like dry rub BBQ? Michel, I hope to be in your waters one day. I have read about The Saint-Lawrence River and would love to sail on it. I have thought about taking a right hand turn coming out of the Oswega canal on my Great Circle route and traveling up the Saint-Lawrence up to Montreal and maybe Quebec before turning around heading back to Lake Ontario. Only time, weather, and money will tell. BBQ Jerry

Jerry, I hope to see you there. The Saint-Lawrence can be challenging but it is beautiful and full of history. You will love it. The islands of Sorel are a real paradise.
