Does the Sun shine in SoCal? Before you eat too much read the warnings issued by Fish and Game.
The gang and I used to head out from Newport Bay
quite often and either do the flats off Hunting Beach or head south off Laguna Beach. The kelp beds were always a favorite spot.
If you are trailer sailing Newport Bay and Hunting Harbor have very low, like real low bridges to get under so Alamitos Bay ( need 28 feet or less )and Dana Point ( no bridges )are better choices for tall masted sail boats. No, I don't sail/fish there anymore, moved to the NorthWest.
