I owned a Columbia 22 for 10 yrs and she was the best boat I have ever owned. 8' cockpit so you can lounge as you sail or sleep outside at night. Solid fiberglass and light she was pretty fast for her size and the dinette inside was a welcome respite from the burning sun.
I sailed her out of Catalina island one time into 25' seas and 50knot winds. With a reefed main only I surfed her all t he way into Marina del Rey. When I got her inside the breakwater the Coasties declared they would no go out to rescue me if I went out there. I smugly replied I just came in from out there, all the way from Catalina. A lil wet but a fast ride.
