It depends somewhat on where you launch and how much you like trailer work. Our boat is often launched in sea water and I don't like to work on trailer stuff so I launch our F-27 without wetting the trailer. I recommend dry launching if you have a rig heavy enough to require brakes. I know that you can't always do it but most boats under about 3000 lbs and with reasonable draft can be launched or retreived with out wetting the axle. The other side is that I watched a guy with a 16 ft john boat(a flat bottom outboard boat) back the trailer and a fairly new Pickup with a utility body with lots of doors and compartments until the rear wheels of the truck were completely submerged in sea water. About 1/2 of the compartments were full of water, all the stuff in them was wet, the rear brakes were soaked, The axle might have picked up some salt water. If it had been my truck I would have done him serious bodily harm. Dave
