Larry,
My Pearl,Maggie, is motorless. When I bought her I also bought a 2.5HP Yamaha at 35lbs because I wanted a real clutch but would tolerate the turnaround reverse. If memory serves the rudder mount is rated for up to 30lbs. My yamaha proved so weighty on the tiller that I couldn't stand the feel and it hasn't been on the boat since. My boat stays in the water on a canal that faces North. I can't row out in over 10mph wind but the 2.5 had way more power than I would think one would ever need, no reverse but a real, not centrifugal, clutch. I wouldn't use such a strong motor for other reasons as well. The outboard bracket is off center and I would be afraid of breaking the tiller or the cast Al. bracket counteracting that much torque. This would be a good post for the Sea Pearl site on Yahoo Groups. Dave
