I wanted to have a go at a different kind of quiz this time:
Our starting point is a politician (1) with a very impressive blue-blooded pedigree. This politician has a brother (2) who is now formally the head of their house, although their father (3) is still alive. This brother’s wife (4) is the daughter of a woman (5) who once had a rather scandalous affair with a man (6) who was a lot younger than her. That man, in turn, was the son of a woman (7) who, after divorcing her first husband (8) went on to marry a nobleman (9) from a very well known family with several royal connections. They were later divorced, but the nobleman then went on to marry another woman (10) - whom he also later divorced. Number 10 has a sister (11) whose husband (12) is the heir to the throne of a defunct kingdom (13), and who is also, in the view of some people, the true heir to another, still existing throne (14) which is today in reality occupied by an entirely different family. 11 and 12, by the way, have a grandson (15) who will one day be a reigning sovereign.
And then we get to the point where our story turns full circle: the two sisters, 10 and 11, have a first cousin (16) who is married to none other than number 1.
So your task is to identify the people and places in this quiz...
