Ah..of course! I guessed Bjarne was referring to someone from ancient times but I just couldn't pin him down.Well done,Bjarne!
As to who he was...Marcus Claudius Marcellus was the nephew and son-in-law of Emperor Augustus.The latter,with no son of his own,designated him as his heir after marrying him to his only daughter,Julia.But Marcellus died suddenly at the age of just 19.There were suspicions that he had been poisoned on the orders of Augustus's wife,Empress Livia who feared him as a rival to her own son Tiberius (Augustus's eventual successor).
The author Robert Graves makes these and other rumours about Livia into fact in his novel,I Claudius.
