King Nikola of Montenegro was not born in May. He was born in October (September if you use an Orthodox calender.)
Maybe you used the Online Gotha for your quiz, and mixed Nikola's birthdate with that of Queen Milena.

: Quite correct, José! You found the link. I
: have to admit I thought it would be more
: difficult to find...
:
: And of course, Zita is correct for #3.
:
: Robert, well done with #7 - Nikola of
: Montenegro was correct.
:
: And Damian, you made a good effort as well.
: Admittedly, Carlota/Charlotte might have
: been a good guess, and she no doubt fitted
: the clue, but unfortunately, she was born 7
: days too late to fit the link...

: Austrian Emperess.

: Almost everything correct, José - except #3.
: Victoria, the consort of Friedrich III, was
: not yet 61 when she died, and I wouldn't
: call that "a very long life". So
: we are looking for another Empress.
: (Besides, notice the order of things:
: "my husband lost his throne, and then
: his life...".)
:
: Any suggestions for #7 - or the link?

: The time-honoured old recipe once again...
:
: 1. My father and my brother were kings in my
: native country. I was also a king very
: briefly, but in a different country. Lately,
: my great-grandson has been challenging the
: position of my brother’s descendant as head
: of our house.
:
: 2. I am the head of a royal house that lost
: its throne a long time ago. My brothers have
: remained bachelors, but I have married and
: produced heirs – although I was almost 50
: when it finally happened...
:
: 3. I was an Empress, but my husband lost his
: throne, and then his life, far too early. I,
: on the other hand, had a very long life.
:
: 4. I was the longest-reigning monarch in the
: history of my country, and I gave my name to
: a whole era.
:
: 5. I am an heir who is about to have a big
: celebration.
:
: 6. I was the head of a no longer reigning
: house, though my claim was disputed by
: another branch of the family. I passed away
: recently.
:
: 7. By the time I became a king, I had
: already reigned for half a century under a
: different title. I was forced into exile
: when my country was annexed to a
: neighbouring country, but now it is
: independent again.
:
: 8. I was the last monarch of my country. My
: whole family and I met with a tragic death.
:
: 9. At the time of my accession, I was
: without doubt the youngest monarch in the
: world – in fact, I couldn’t have been any
: younger. I later lost my throne and died in
: exile.
:
: 10. I was the heir apparent, but before I
: could succeed, my family lost its throne.
: However, some people also count me among the
: legitimate kings of a different country.
:
:
: So, who are we, and what do we all have in
: common?
