Blossom Dearie, American jazz singer and pianist with a "distinctive, girlish voice", died February 7 after a long illness. She was 82.
Older generations know her for her unique bebop jazz style, releasing records from 1954 to 2003. However, she made her everlasting mark with the younger generation of the 70's by providing the vocals for three tracks from the very popular ABC-TV series Schoolhouse Rock, including "Figure Eight", "Unpack Your Adjectives", and "Mother Necessity".
