The Dave Clark Five have finally made it, after being politically bumped off last year's induction. I certainyl hope all the surviving members can make it, especially keyboardist/lead singer Mike Smith, who's been in a wheelchair since falling from a fence a few years ago.
The other 60's group must walk, not run, to the HOF induction ceremony. That's right, we're talking about those fabulous Ventures! I had the pleasure of meeting the group (Don Wilson, Bob Bogle, Gerry McGee, and Leon Taylor (son of the late Mel Taylor)) several years ago when they performed in Pittsburgh. They did all their classics and even some vocals! After the show, they signed two of my album covers: "Walk Don't Run Volume 2" (since those aren't The Ventures on the first album) and "The Horse" (Gerry McGee's first LP with the group). It will be great to see them (along with inactive original surviving member Nokie Edwards) on the show.
Rock & Roll Heaven has got to be shining bright today with their new HOF members Denis Payton, Howie Johnson and Mel Taylor.
Congrats to all!
DYNAMIC D!
