I can't stand what they have done to a once great character. They then hand over the Ms. Marvel moniker again to yet another character.
It's sad because up until she became Captain Marvel I liked where things were going. Then Captain Marvel happened and they got sloppy with the story and recycled old plot points, the artwork started to get terrible and I stopped buying it.
Then I heard about the new Ms. Marvel and it struck me as pc garbage, in an attempt to be all inclusive they make her Muslim and a 16 year old girl. Lame, don't get me wrong it's nothing against Muslims personally I just hate to see the next generation thinking of Ms. Marvel as a different character than she has always been.
Now I know there have been other Ms. Marvels but I have always seen them more of an evolution to Marvel finding the right fit for the character.
I would have been much more interested if it was like a back to zero version of Carol that retells the origin story and continues from there.
Now I'm afraid if they ever do manage to get Ms. Marvel into a film it will be the all inclusive multicultural 16 year old girl version and not the Carol version we all know and love.
Maybe when it reboots I'll give it another shot but I doubt it, it just isn't what it used to be.
: I think it's on hiatus (like so many other
: things during the winter). As I understand
: it, the new series will deal with the fact
: that Carol has to come to terms with her
: missing memories. In a way, it's kind of
: like what happened to her when she
: originally became Ms. Marvel- the disconnect
: between Carol Danvers and the Kree-empowered
: superheroine that she would become and not
: remember it until she was 'cured' by magic.
: Then she loses her connection to her
: memories when Rogue steals them and her
: powers (messing up Rogue too for many
: years). She finally got her emotional
: connection back just as she is 'killed' by
: the Acension-empowered villain. Magic sort
: of restores her then as well when the AIM
: created Storyteller babies bring her back
: together. This seems to be a recurring theme
: in Carol's story. At least she had the last
: several years pretty much a whole person,
: finally taking on the mantle of Captain
: Now, the lesion has stolen her life again.
: She fights against the Builders in the
: Infinity storyline, but seems to do it by
: faking everyone out.
: I haven't seen issue 17 yet, but I
: understand that her fans bring her to some
: sort of closure that will eventually lead to
: the new Issue One of Captain Marvel in
: March, 2014. There are hints that she might
: just take a sabbatical off Earth- maybe
: visit Hala.
: No matter what, I completely trust Kelly
: Sue. The people I don't trust is
: Marvel/Disney. Despite being 'Earth's
: Mightiest Hero' and obviously one of the
: most powerful superheroes in existence,
: Marvel never seems to push the Captain
: Marvel title like it does all the others.
: Plenty of love for the Avengers, the X-Men
: and Spiderman (even the Superior one), but
: nothing for Carol who may have sacrificed
: the most. No action figures, no games (well,
: some electronic ones) no Heroclix figure, no
: coloring book, no storybook, no novel and
: apparently no movie until at least beyond
: Not impressed with Marvel.
: --Previous Message--
: this series is only 17 issues...
: why do they feel the need to re-boot is so
: can't they just continue the series as is
: with it?
