I picked up the New Avengers Annual this week and I'm impressed and bummed out at the same time. It seems that you HAVE to buy the upcoming Avengers Annual #1 in order to finish the story. Gee thanks, Marvel and Bendis. I guess it's too much to expect the story in an 'annual' to be finished in one book.
At any rate, during the course of the story, Carol and Simon go head to head and Carol ends up plummeting into the ground, unconscious. Expecting that Bendis had performed his usual job of ignoring character's abilities so that he could he tell his story, I looked up both characters in several references and was somewhat surprised to see that Simon is rated higher than Carol in just about every area. The only thing that she might have done to 'win' the fight would be to absorb Simon's ionic energy, but considering their past history together, I decided that she just wouldn't have done that...not yet, anyway. It might have killed Simon Williams (again!).
I guess I'll just have to buy the other book (sigh).
