MS. MARVEL #40
writer. Brian Reed
artist. Sana Takeda
Synopsis: Deadpool is teleported in A.I.M and is hired to retrieve the Storytellers from where they are hidden. He excepts. Meanwhile in New York City; Ms. Marvel [Dr. Karla Soften] and a few of the Avengers battle the yellow energy entity, who is trying to steal the Storytellers. After Noh-Var and Spiderman [Mac Gargan] are taken down, Iron Patriot [Norman Osborn] and Ms. Marvel work together to defeat the yellow energy woman (though whether she disappeared or was destroyed is unknown). Which leads Osborn to confront Karla about the Storytellers; and so he has them taken away and stored in the Thunderbolts mountain.
~ cliffhanger: the green energy woman and pink energy woman confront Spiderman [Peter Parker] and Wolverine [James Howlett] along with Luke Cage; seemingly to ask for aid... using Ms. Marvel [Carol Danver]'s symbol [B+]
~ cover: was relevant and well done [B+]
LOVED
1. the art. Some beautiful images, such as the Avengers in the dire fighting the yellow energy woman, or Karla's battle with her in the sky. And I enjoyed that Ms. Marvel stuff was more "epic" in colour and visuals, and the other super heroes had more muted colours, and more "earthy" features.
2. Ms. Marvel's genuine care for the Storytellers; keeping calling them "The babies"
3. Wolverine making baby faces. Come one, it was ADORABLE!
LIKED
1. Karla using her 'fabric alteration powers' which have been absent recently.
2. Deadpool's entrance, and re-entrance "for effect"
3. Karla's narrative involving her moonstone. I wonder where the other moonstone's fragments are? Will that be a later story?
DISLIKED
1. one exception to the good quality of the art was how Sentry's face was drawn in the Avenger's gathering. He looked like the evil painting from Ghostbusters II. \:\(
2. Peter Parker's rather prepubescent song. Surely he's not THAT much of a tool?
OVERALL
Not as good as last issue; but still a great read from start to finish. Lovely art, mixed with the joy on every page knowing that this is Karla's comic, makes me a very happy bunny. \:D So excited to see where this arc is going!!!
~ rating: 4 out of 5 [B+]

Lot of guest stars but none of them interact with Ms. Marvel.
Good point. Hmmm. Guess we'll have to wait till next issue. Ms. Marvel vs. Spiderman vs. Wolverine and Luke Cage vs. Deadpool. AWESOME!!!
Deadpool gets recruited by A.I.M. to get the M.O.D.O.K.S. Looking forward to seeing Karla kick his butt.
Ditto
Iron Patriot, Noh-Varr, and Spiderman try to fight off the energy being but lose badly. A great fight between Ms. Marvel and the energy being takes place. Iron Patriot tries to help again but fails again. So Ms. Marvel uses Iron Patriot as a weapon and slams him into the being of energy makeing it disappear. I love how Reed brings out Karla's creativity.
You phrased it much better than me. I agree, it was great to see Karla is ACTUALLY a good fighter (which Warren Ellis missed out). Thought Bendis did have her take down Morgan le Fay in a pretty brilliant way.
Oh look Fake Spiderman(Peter Parker) is swinging around and is confronted by a green energy being. Short scene don't know where its going.
You made my day calling him Fake Spiderman. I agree, the true Wolverine is Daken. The true Ms. Marvel is Karla. Get with the program people! :D
Fake Wolverine(Logan) is baby sitting for Luke Cage. A pink energy being is trying to communicate with him. A "s" symbol is made on the floor. Now the pink one murdered those men in Saudi Arabia last issue so why not melt Logan and Lukes face off?
I really, REALLY do not think this is actually Carol (due to the mass murder effect); but I can't wait to see how they are connected to Carol. Someone mentioned "another" Ms. Marvel from another reality?
