Kieran - your ability to be so darn DEFINITIVE in the absence of verifiable evidence / fact... to a post that indicated it was purely SPECUALTION comes across as petulance / arrogance of a very high order... if that’s what you were going for - you succeeded..
Whoa! So not what I was going for, and I’m sorry if my post came off as that. I promise it was meant to be taken as playful banter; not an attack.
there is NO EVIDENCE that this energy woman (who can change colours) OR Women - cos it could conceivably be multiple versions of the one being given the... you guessed it - lack of verifiable evidence to the contrary.. (my money is on Carol, regardless of the 'colour' issue) that this woman is NOT Carol... we are speculating...
Do you think the colour difference was accidental? You can’t just “ignore” it because it ruins your speculation. Clearly the entity was coloured different; which MUST be for a reason.
Oh, that’s right, Carol has never killed..! She never killed (specifically let DIE when could have prevented/saved) the Puppet Master in the early 20's issues... She NEVER slaughtered untold numbers of skrulls during SI... she has never shown a tendency of being a tad brash - shoot first, asked questions later (Arachne)... that’s right, Miss Carol is a lil goody-two-shoes butter would not melt in her mouth type... NOT
But surely she’s not THAT kind of a killer? It seemed the entity killed all of the men in Saudi Arabia (which looked liked 8 people/4 per car). We defiantly see five dead bodies in the Pacific Ocean ship… but considering it’s a ship that looked to be very much on fire from human remains; at cruise tanker like that has what? A crew of thirty? Fifty? And these weren’t just “killings,” these deaths clearly hurt, A LOT! Do you really think Brian Reed would bring Carol back TWO ISSUES after seemingly killing her; and turn her into a mass-murderer? In one issue, these energy women have eclipsed Karla’s death count ten fold!
where does it say that its 'too soon' to bring carol back? What are you basing that on?? History, instinct, hot air or the previews?? Surely not the preview covers for the 40's that have shown a 'Carol-Ms Marvel-look-alike'. History is no reliable judge (in any definitive way) - cos then that becomes predictable'... your instinct is neither better OR worse than anyone elses (btw - I 'called it' successfully on karla becoming a major part of this book loooong before any initial announcement, on this VERY board)... that leaves HOT AIR *pfffft*
Killing off a character and bringing them back in two issues greatly dampens any later emotional impact of “death” a writer might want to cart out. You can’t kill off Jean Grey again and make a reader shed a tear, because they will know she will be back. It’s inevitable and therefore NOT powerful. BUT Gertrude’s death in Runaways STILL has emotional impact because at the time (and still could be, I stopped reading Runaways) it seemed a “forever” death. Same with Icarus. Came with Wallflower. Same with Skin. Same with Karla’s mother. These deaths were shocking and emotional because it came with a feeling that “they are dead for good.” Do you honestly not agree with the statement: if you overuse resurrections, deaths lose meaning!
And REED has categorically stated that Carol WILL be back (my bet is issue 50).. so your hopes & wishes about karla seem to be destined to remain as insubstantial as your other errm 'comments'
Woah? Why are you being so aggressive? Also, not to nit-pick, but surely if she’s “back by issue 50”; these energy women wouldn’t be her? Since this was issue #39
Even your comment about 'Carol is better on a team' is redundant given she has had her own team IN her Solo Book, whilst also leading Mighty avengers (and now appreaing in NA)... so that one has been contradicted by previous issues of this book.. which I wonder if you have read..
Again. Uncalled for? And at what point was I EVER required to read pre-Moonstone Ms. Marvel to post on this board to call myself a fan? I can still be a fan and have never read anything before Karla joined (as a matter of interest: I have read Ms. Marvel before. I got the trades; but that doesn’t change the statement “I don’t need to have read them to comment here”)
so, before making definitive statements about the level of 'wrong-ness' in someones speculation.. ya may in future just like to check yourself first - LOL!
Okay. Sorry for replying to your post?
