I usually enjoy casting threads(Julie Benz from Buffy/Angel, Dexter and Rambo: First Blood
is my personal favorite to play Carol) but shouldn't we first discuss how Carol should be introduced to the The Avengers in the movie first? Knowing Marvel may probably chicken out from giving her her own movie before The Avengers flick, do you think she should be the only hero who should be introduced and recruited in the main movie itself? I think they need a female superhero in The Avengers to pull in more women audiences and if there has to be a chick in The Avengers, it HAS to be Carol(most probably as Ms.Marvel). If the movie is a success then maybe she'd get her own flick after that.
It is a pity that Mystique solo flick never took off. Carol and Rogue may have gotten to play a big part in it if it had been made, setting a foundation for her character development before The Avengers by highlighting her affair with her psychologist and then the loss she suffered when Mystique murdered him and the toll it took on Carol. They could also have brought in the 'powers/emotion loss to Rogue' storyline and Carol's subsequent alcholic tendencies leading her to forming a close relationship with Tony Stark in The Avengers flick. Though I wonder if just losing her previous boyfriend would be enough to make her an alcoholic. What do you guys think? What storyline should Carol have in the flick and what should be the basic plot of her solo flick, if she ever gets one i.e.?
