True, true... personally tho, I think the past 10yrs have been pretty good to Carol... from Busieks run in Avengers vol 3, and her having several prominent stories... especially the Kang war and a meeting with Marcus.. and even when she left she went and worked for the govt and was T'bolts liaison... then coming back to new avengers... then HOM, then her own series, a pretty big role in Civil War and the initiative and now Leader of Mighty and has her own squad..
so I reckon her star is really on the rise... which suits me... but yeah, its taken a while
That said, her leadership skills still have room for improvement... and she has busted in kicked butt and taken names after... which has often complicated things... but i reckon this is all part of her journey, her growth... I think Brian Reed will get her there, but its going to take time and making a few mistakes along the way
To that end - my money is on carol playing a big role in defeating the skrulls... possibly even single-handedly... in my opinion, she is one of few who could do the skrulls some real damage, especially if she goes all BINARY on their heads

: Whatever the reason, it's still an uphill
: battle to bring Ms. Marvel to prominence.
:
: I'm still concerned over Carol's leadership
: skills. She's doing okay in the Mighty
: Avengers and Operation Lightning Storm. But
: she still doesn't exude the kind of
: leadership that reaches out to the public.

: A lot of "feminism" in comics is
: pretty dated even by the time it sees print.
: I point to the Lady Liberators taking out
: "Male Chauvinist Pigs". That
: sounded more like a parody of feminism then
: anything else.
:
: I read an interview with Jim Shooter who
: said something to the effect that Ms. Marvel
: was created to fit an agenda, until writers
: like Chris Claremont really molded her into
: a character rather then an agenda. If
: anyone could take a female character and
: empower the heck out of them, it was Chris
: Claremont, his detractors to the contrary.
:
: That said, an interview with some of the
: writers reveal that AVENGERS #200 was
: basically an exercise in group think, and
: pretty bad at that. They had an all night
: marathon session about the plot and
: direction of the story, and the end result
: was this awful story. But that does not
: explain why Ms. Marvel got the boot, while
: She-Hulk had just sprung into creation a few
: months back and Spider-Woman was still going
: strong.
