Whatever the reason, it's still an uphill battle to bring Ms. Marvel to prominence.
I'm still concerned over Carol's leadership skills. She's doing okay in the Mighty Avengers and Operation Lightning Storm. But she still doesn't exude the kind of leadership that reaches out to the public.

: A lot of "feminism" in comics is
: pretty dated even by the time it sees print.
: I point to the Lady Liberators taking out
: "Male Chauvinist Pigs". That
: sounded more like a parody of feminism then
: anything else.
:
: I read an interview with Jim Shooter who
: said something to the effect that Ms. Marvel
: was created to fit an agenda, until writers
: like Chris Claremont really molded her into
: a character rather then an agenda. If
: anyone could take a female character and
: empower the heck out of them, it was Chris
: Claremont, his detractors to the contrary.
:
: That said, an interview with some of the
: writers reveal that AVENGERS #200 was
: basically an exercise in group think, and
: pretty bad at that. They had an all night
: marathon session about the plot and
: direction of the story, and the end result
: was this awful story. But that does not
: explain why Ms. Marvel got the boot, while
: She-Hulk had just sprung into creation a few
: months back and Spider-Woman was still going
: strong.
