I never bought into it.

When was this picture drawn? If that's in Mighty Avengers she must have tasted some very expensive wine from Doom's private stash.

But seriously, I never believed that Carol could develop a drinking problem. Her supermetabolism makes it difficult for her to get drunk. Colossus, yeah, I imagine he could get a drinking problem, until he powers up and burns all the alcahol in an instant.

One question I wanted to ask Brian Reed was whether he's writing Carol to be bi-polar. I'm afraid he might but it could explain her mood swings.
