You can read more at Marvel's Comic News website. But frankly I find Reed's interpretation of those events to be a bit off. That story is the first X-Men comic I ever read, and it wasn't exactly like that.
Binary didn't directly attack the Brood Queen. She stepped on the location of the Acanti's soul to use her power to free everybody. Afterwards they discovered the Brood Queen had crystallized and the planet had become unstable.
