NAR, A rescue grumble

I just got an email from a potential adopter (I won't name which group). He complained to me about the adoption fee for a 12 yo dog with known health problems. To quote, "why should we have to pay a $150.00 donation for a dog that is elderly and has known health problems when we are willing to take the dog and willingly pay for future, known problems?" How do I answer that? It's policy? Talk to the intake rep? My reply was all of the above, but I agree with the guy. The went through all of the background checks with flying colors and are willing to take a dog that is going to cost the mucho money in the future. Okay, back to my crate...
