Here's Iris with her new favorite toy. She can be kind of picky about what toys she'll play with, but I think Mr. Fox is a winner! Look at that grin.
This dog has come leaps and bounds since I got her. The Holidays meant various guests, and she has been so good. Sometimes I can't believe she's the same dog! She's gone from exploding anytime anyone came through the door to sitting politely until I give her permission to go greet the person (and she's still generally polite when she gets to the guest. I have a couple friends now that she gets too happy to see so she jumps up, but I'd rather have that problem!)
Her biggest issue right now is seeing people outside. I changed jobs and we moved into an apartment a couple months ago, so we see more people outside than we used to. I realized, I prefer to walk her at the state park because I like being in the woods better than walking on the street. Plus, Iris still really wants to lunge at cars. It did mean we never saw anyone on our walks, so I unintentionally neglected "approaching stranger outside." So far, she doesn't actually go over her threshold when we see people outside, but I can see her starting to. We've been playing "look at that" in the parking lot, and I think she's starting to make progress.
We're still doing agility class, although we had the month of December off. We start back up in a couple weeks. The agility classes have really been the best thing I've done with this dog. The trainer is excellent, and she's been awesome about helping me with some of Iris' behavior issues. I think it's helped Iris to have a job too. I try to get her out for herding lessons too, which is what she really loves.
I think this is Iris' big plan for today. She's got the perfect idea:
Now about an update on your gang?
