Hi Joanne... thanks for asking about Morgie.
Morgan is doing very well. In fact much better with this surgery than the one 4 years ago. She had her 1 week post op checkup today with her vet. He was watching us in the parking lot as we brought her in and came out into the waiting room and told us he was really impressed with how well she was walking. He checked her out and her incision is almost healed already! and everything is rock solid. He was really happy with how well she is doing.
We were so worried that she would have a rougher time of recovery this time since she is so much older now, but he does things a little differently and it seems to be making a big difference. Plus he did not have to go into the joint at all (no miniscus damage, no clicking sounds etc.) and they no longer take the old ruptured ligaments out. He just puts in the new ones (100 lbs monofilament lines, 2 of them) and the crimp(s). He told us he has been to many conferences over the last year or so and followed the new recommendations. Less trauma to the areas (if possible)
She had a couple of rough days initially but has come through the last week well and is starting to feel her oats already
The problem now, of course, will be keeping her calmer. Still leash walks, still therapy but doing really well. We dont have to go back for 8 weeks unless something changes. He said "You know what you are doing...just call me if you have a question"
SO...she is coming along much better than we anticipated. She has the light back in her eyes and you can see the difference the last couple of days. No more fentynal patch, just Metacam for now.
And the monetary damages were $1155.50. Yes, but worth every penny to have her get back full usage of that leg. We still have several weeks of recovery but doing well.
