I like the way he looks with his natural coat. But I pay a price for this I think and have threatened to shave him many times.
He always has an abundance of undercoat which I rake every week outside. The tumbleweeds of cottony-coat are present in my backyard for weeks. But my own personal discomfort in raking him means that I have to put up with his undercoat sticking to every surface of my body, in my mouth, in my eyes and in my hair. I always plan grooming days with a full shower afterwards but that doesn't always hack it.
I don't see it as laziness! I see it as coming to terms with your dog's excess hair.
