I'll start with the Rusty update first, and then get to the pictures. I haven't been around a whole lot but I figured I'd stop in and let everybody know how he's progressing with his heartworm treatment. We're just a little over a week post-op from his last injections. Last Monday/Tuesday he received the 2 injections/24 hrs apart treatment. Annnnnnnnd...so far he's doing great!
He was a little sore for about a day after both injections but nothing too serious where he couldn't get up and move around. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things keep going as smoothly as they have been, but he's been doing so well I think he's even surprised the vet. As well we/him got major big praises from the vet at just how well behaved he has been during his stays at the vets office (he never did have to stay overnight at the vets as we all agreed it would be less stressful for him to just come on home at nights. He did have to stay days of injections for observations though). It was a major ego boost to hear the vet comment just how well behaved he was though. I think they were happy to have a patient for once that was calm the entire time and that they could do anything with without him throwing a big fit
.
In the week since treatment its pretty much been the same day in and day out. Lots of R&R, nap - go outside to go potty - nap - go outside to go potty - repeat. Throw in a random short walk to keep him from going bonkers and you pretty much have his routine for the next few weeks
. He's completely done going to the vets for 6 months where they'll do a recheck to see if all the heartworms are killed off. In the meantime because his liver enzyme levels were still a little bit off when the vet did a small blood panel at the time of his last injections he's on some liver supplements at least until that 6 month check.
In other news I have been keeping up with my photography to keep ME from going bonkers as well
