We had another Ridgeback who died at 15 in 2005. He was the runt of a litter and only reached about 70 to 75 lbs, which was ideal for us. He was a puppy for about seven years. We neutered him at roughly 18 months. We have missed him a lot, so sought out a breeder and asked for another runt, but got there too late and the one remaining had huge paws. His mother was huge and we were told the father was 100 lbs or more. I thus was reluctant but my husband and daughter voted yes. Turns out he is very sweet but so rambunctious that even my tall, sturdy husband is challenged in training him and getting him sufficient exercise where we live. I am going to cancel the procedure and will take a watch and wait strategy. Again, I appreciate your input.
