My boys (one is now happily re homed because of alpha-wanna-be issues) were shown - earned their CH.'s and were OFA certified.. I passed up several opportunities to sire litters. 4 were with RRCUS breeders. I tossed around the notion of breeding but decided against it because I could not justify it.
The reason I chose not to was ... to me... breeding is all about making better... not making more. I had been offered over $ 1,000. for the use of my Hasani. I turned it down .... there are just too many good dogs out there needing a forever home. I did not want to add to that problem in any way shape or form.
I also had a conversation once with my breeder regarding my Hasani having such a wonderful temperament and demeanor. Her answer was simple and to the point, she said: "the reason my boy had such a wonderful temperament was because he's a Ridgeback"
After thinking that statement over , I now believe her.
Only you can make the right decision regarding breeding but remember nothing will break your heart faster than a puppy who is mistreated or is not loved by their owners.
