As of now we have found a vet that will give us a pro bono second opinion, though no opinion will be certain wo expensive blood testing.
Amie does not exhibit any of the symptoms of Cushing's except for secondary superficial symptoms in that she has the thin hair & a bit of a bloated belly. Though my vet will not do pro-bono work on shelter dogs, he did have a long conversation with me, and based upon what he said a superficial Cushings diagnosis is sketchy at best.
As of now, our plan is to try to find a rescue group that will take her from AH. If necessary, we are prepared to pay for some testing.
One thing is certain, she is a sweet, happy, affectionate little thing who as of now acts healthy. We will not let her be put down under these circumstances.
