I just got my rhodesian this morning and have some questions/concerns. He is six weeks old and he is adjusting better than expected but will only fall asleep when he lays in my lap. He does not like to sleep in his cage. He has willfully gone in and out with treats and his new stuffed animal but the one time the door was closed, he freaked out. We had to let him out because it was breaking my heart. I do not want to traumatize the little boy but also want to do what is best for all of us. please help if you have any suggestions.
also, he hates the bathroom. i suspect it is because the tiles do not have good traction and, the first time he was in there, the shower was turned on and the toilet flushed at the same time and all the noise freaked him out. we are trying to acclimate him to it but he just mostly stands by the door and whimpers. I'm guessing he will get more used to it as he sees and experiences there is no harm done in here.
lastly, at what age should i begin obedience training him? is it the 8 week mark that is important or should we begin right away?
thanks, i am open to all suggestions, please let me know!!
