Nelson, my 5 year old neutered male, has nipped 3 people in the last year. This happened twice on runs when he was off-leash, the 3rd time happened here in the house as the plumber was walking out the door. Yesterday, we were out on the trails and had stopped to talk to a guy on a bike. Nelson (on the leash) moved up to the guy as if he were going to smell him, then made a move to nip. The guy good-humoredly yelled, but the incident just reinforced the fact that I have a potential problem on my hands.
Nelson gets lots of exercise--at least 4 days a week of running 3 or 4 miles with me.
I am desperate for help with him on this issue. Right now, I am looking for muzzles on-line so that I can feel secure letting him off leash on our runs in the country.
Any advice is hugely appreciated.
