We moved with our dogs (then, just the boys) to a new home 5 years ago, so they would have been almost 5 and 3 years old. We didn't do anything overly special other than to make sure all our furniture was moved over before we brought the dogs in. Although that was more for safety reasons (didn't want them running through an open door or gate), it also helped them accept the new house as home.
If your guy is not the type to adjust easily to change, then I'd start crating him again before the move, and continue it as a "security blanket" for a bit after your move. I would not put a dog in a new home with a dog door straight off the bat -- he might try to escape and go back to the former home.
You can also use Bach flower essence (Walnut) to help ease the transition. Just a few drops in the water bowl will do it.
