Though I am personally in favor of no kills, I do recognize that there has to be a balancing between the following:
1. Accepting all surrendered animals (a no kill shelter cannot do that and maintain humane conditions)
2. Minimizing or eliminating the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals.
I know that AH and other kill shelters do not have the dollars or the facilities to be become no-kill shelters anytime soon.
However, I absolutely fail to see why every healthy, adoptable animal should not at minimum be given a Fair Chance to be re-homed, which I think is a reasonable and doable first step that can be done TODAY at all kill shelters.
