My boy Roo is an alpha. He is a very non-aggressive alpha in the sense that if another dog "tells" him off then Roo will not persist with asserting himself, but no way will he let himself be dominated.
At the meet & greet at Animal Humane (see thread below) it took awhile, but eventually Boomer submitted to Roo (which was essential for us to be able to take him into foster).
Anyways, yesterday afternoon, Roo & Boomer were having some "rough, but friendly" play. It looked to me like Boomer was testing Roo again. Anyways, it took a good 15 to 20 minutes, but eventually Boomer lied on his back in complete submission. It was them that Roo stood over him in complete triumph with his tail totally upright at a full ninety degree angle !!! I had never that before from my proud boy !!
Also, some other interesting interactions, is that if Boomer "bothers" Abby then Roo will be right there to protect her & he growls Boomer off. My Roo is such a sweet goofy boy that I never imagined him being protective, but when he senses a member of his pack needs the protection, he is right there !!
Anyways, Roo is teaching Boomer his place, and so far, everything is going very well with our fostering.
