I am dog sitting a friend's nuetured RR. He is about 1 1/2. Luca, my fixed female just turned 3yrs old. I have watched him off and on since he was a puppy so my dog is familiar with him. I've noticed since he has been here Luca has been not as "close" to me as normal. He is definetly more of a cuddler than Luca, and she "allows" this. She normally would snuggle up next to me but lets him be closer to me and she will sit farther away. She is more aloof and independent than when he isn't here. And I don't think it is him being the alpha b/c when they play or interact otherwise, she is less than submissive to him and has put him in his place on more than one occassion. Also, I feel that I have established myself as alpha to both of them...they both are submissive to me. I just find it funny since this isn't her normal behavior. I don't know if she just doesn't "care" to be snuggly and since he is a natural cuddler she just lets it go...or what. Maybe she just doesn't want him to know what a momma's baby she really is
If anyone has experienced this or knows why she is acting this way...your input is appreciated.
