Hello everyone. I have never posted here before but I do have some questions. My RR, Bayley, turned 11 in June. She is has recently (over the last 3-4 months) started this weird "gagging" thing. She acts like she has to throw up but nothing comes out. Some days are worse than others. It seems to be worse at night. I asked the vet about it at her last visit and he didn't think it was anything. He said a lof of dogs gag, especially older ones. He said her heart sounded good.
My other question is that just recently, she has really started looking thin. I have always kept her weight where is should be (she weighs 67 pounds). But her head is looking so bony!! Her skull just seems to be protruding out, as well as her shoulder blades. Around her spine and ribs, she looks healthy still. I suppose it's just loss of muscle mass since she sleeps almost all day now. She is almost completely white now!! She just looks so old, I can't believe it. She is really acting it now, too.
Any thoughts of the gagging and "bony" looking head/shoulders, I would appreciate. She has been such a good dog to our family. My boys (10 and 12) are already writing poems about her to put in her grave because she's acting so old lately! I myself am hoping she makes it to her 12th birthday!
Thanks,
Jane
