Yeah, they aren't crazy about the mint. I don't know why, specifically, it's in there (to make it more pretty-smelling to humans?), but it is. I smear a bit of peanut butter on a plate, squirt the gel on top of it, then give it to each of the dogs one at a time, replenishing the PB and gel each time. They look at me like I'm crazy, but they take it as a "treat".
