Alyssa,
Thx for the helpful response.
Your knowledge on so many different topics is often amazing to me.
Roo is very good about not getting into things, so it is doubtful that he ate anything he wasn't supposed to eat.
We really have no idea what may have brought on the fever in terms of his behavior. In fact, he seemed OK in the morning, and we did nothing special during the day since it was mid-week & he just had a normal home day. The first sign was at night when he didn't take his dinner.
Among his tests was an ultrasound, and they found a suspect area by his heart valves so the tentative diagnosis was aortic valve endocartis. At one point they referred to it as bacterial valvular endocartis, which I assume is another name for the same thing.
They want us to bring him in for a second ultrasound in a month or two to clarify his condition, if any.
So, anyways, he is doing very well now, and I am confident the treatment he is on will work, even if it is a bit of overkill.
Thx,
Jeff
