A few days ago Roo ran a very high fever and ended up in the emergency vet. He was put on IV and high doses of anti-biotics. In the end they had a probable, but not a definitive diagnosis. He is now home & normal, but still on high doses of prescription anti-biotics since they are taking a shotgun approach to heal. As of now, his temp is normal and he is back to his old self (adjusted for the fact that he is on high meds).
My question is this, are dogs like humans in the sense that the anti-biotics will kill off "good" bacteria as well as the infectious bacteria, and should we be supplementing Roo's diet with yogurt or something similar to offset that ?
Thx, in advance.
