I agree with Sara. The spats between the three of mine are minimal, but between the girls is a different story. Ellie is alpha (and how that happened I have no clue because I never expected it) but I try to stay out of things between them unless things get out of hand, which isn't very often...then I put both in their places no matter who started it and they both get a 30 minute down-stay to cool down. Ellie went into heat about 2 months ago, and now Jaycee is just starting to come in, so you can imagine how things have been in my house
And Jaycee has MAJOR PMS while she's in heat lol The only time I would step in right away is if there's a foster here who is the one challenging my dogs. That is put to rest immediately by me. The fosters get the picture pretty quick that this is NOT their house but are given the privilege to stay here. And there have been minor battle wounds in my house between the girls, but never anything major.
It's hard to stay out of things because the last thing you want in your home is a challenge of dominancy, but just something they have to work out on their own.
