You should discourage her from carrying on when you you are there and should be able to tell her to stop. Unfortunately encouraging or ignoring this behaviour could escalate to unnecessary aggression. We have big powerful dogs that could hurt someone and in my opinion we probably shouldn't have them making their own judgement calls, particularly when we are present. I also think regardless of how sweet our dogs might be most dogs are also intuitive and would come to your aid if there was a dangerous situation. Maybe do some training to establish her confidence in you as the leader so she knows when you say "enough" it means stop... Good Luck!
