Ian, I am so sorry to hear. I know what you are going through, being I just lost my heart Penny on 9/9/08..she being 12, I was lucky to have her that long. I still cry.
I'm sure Satchmo was your heart and wish I could give your wife a hug. They say it gets better, but it takes time, I'm still trying to deal with my loss. I did get a new pup to keep my boy company and it does help some, but I will always miss and think of my sweet Penny.
Hang in there and like Alyssa says when you can get yourself up to it would love to hear more about him and see photo's.
